The 2007 reunion was once again be held at the home
of Mike and Tammy Stanley in Perry, GA.
Mike and Tammy have graciously hosted our reunion
every two years since 1993. They have put a lot of time, effort,
personal funds and energy into making sure that each reunion was
better and more fun than the one
before.
The 2007 reunion had a BEACH
theme.
Friday night (July 13th) was
"Get-Aquainted Nite" (from 7-10pm). Refreshments will be served. A
hayride was part of the festivities. Genealogy materials were
available for viewing.
Starting at 10am on Sat., July 14th, the Beach
theme continued with the bulk of the reunion activities.
Music, fishing, animals, wilderness trails, games, drinks &
snacks were be available all throughout the day/ The "petting zoo"
now has 38 goats, 5 ducks, 4 geese, 3 dozen chickens & roosters
and 6 peacocks (2 of the peacocks are solid white!) The 25x20
swimming pool stayed full with happy, spalshing kids, and the
1500 square foot pavillion is now wired for electricity, and has 15
ceiling fans keeping us cool! At noon, lots of food was
served, (ribs, BBQ, chicken, potato salad, green beans & more)
and later in the afternoon there were group pictures taken,
playing bingo for prizes - and MORE FOOD! Prizes were awarded
for the oldest, youngest, who traveled the greatest distance, and
other assorted door prizes. We had a little rain, but it was brief,
and not enough to "dampen" the
festivities.
This year, Tammy &
Mike unveiled an additional 2 1/2 acres that feature a
beautiful man-made pond, swings, small bridge, barn & huge
crepe myrtle trees. Tammy was busy all day giving everyone personal
tours on her new golf cart.
Sunday morning (July 15th) at 10 am Mike & Tammy
served "Breakfast & Goodbyes". Pancakes, sausage, sweet rolls,
juice, coffee were served.
Tables, easels and walls of family photos, documents, stories and
information were available for all attendees to browse. Each
attendee received updated geneology information.
T-shirts, group/branch photos were available at minimal
prices for those who want them. The photos will be distributed as
soon as they are processed. A cd presentation of photos from
previous reunions is also available - contact Lee@Hogg-site.org to
order.
The Country Store,for those family
members who are crafty and like to bring items to sell,
remained busy all day. The items presented for sale show that we
have an extremely talented family! (Hogg Helpers manned the store
so that no one missed out on reunion
activities.)
The next reunion will have a
prehistoric theme, and will be held in July of
2009.
